Past Participle Verb


The present perfect tense verb


👉 The present perfect tense is a verb tense used to indicate an action or event that has happened in the past but has a connection to the present. It is formed by using the auxiliary verb "have" or "has," followed by the past participle of the main verb. 


The structure of the present perfect tense


Subject + have/has + past participle


Here are some example sentences using the present perfect tense:


1. I have seen that movie before.

2. We have visited Paris twice.

3. You have studied English for five years.

4. He has finished his homework.

5. She has lived in this city all her life.

6. It has rained heavily today.

7. They have won the championship.

8. John has traveled to many countries.

The past perfect tense


👉 The past perfect tense is a verb tense used to express an action before another action or point in the past. It is formed by using the auxiliary verb "had," followed by the past participle of the main verb.


The structure of the past perfect tense

Here are some example sentences using the past perfect tense:


1. I had already eaten dinner when she arrived.

2. They had finished their homework before the teacher collected it.

3. She had visited that museum before it closed down.

4. He had studied for the test, so he felt prepared.

5. We had watched the movie before it was released in theaters.

The future perfect tense


👉 The future perfect tense is a verb tense used to describe an action that will be completed before a specific future time or event. It is formed by using the auxiliary verb "will have" or "shall have" followed by the past participle of the main verb.


The structure of the future perfect tense 


Subject + will have / shall have + past participle

Here are some example sentences using the future perfect tense:


  • By next week, I will have finished my project.

  • They will have graduated from college by the end of the year.

  • She will have read all the books in the series by the time the new one is released.

  • He will have saved enough money to buy a car by the end of the summer.

  • We will have completed our journey by the time the sun sets.

  • They will have been married for 10 years on their anniversary.

Passive Voice with a past participle


Passive Voice Verbs - Present Tense


✍️ The infinitive "To be" verb form is an auxiliary. They are: am, is, are, was, were, shall be, and will be.
